Seamer Gus Atkinson Exacerbates the English team's Fitness Concerns.

'Significant concern' for the English camp after Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson increased England's injury problems after leaving the field during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test against Australia.

Atkinson pulled up with his hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over at the MCG.

The touring camp stated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and was to take time off the field for further assessment "in the coming hours".

The series decider of the series at the SCG begins on Sunday, 4 January.

England have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was called up as injury reinforcement.

Atkinson struggled early in the series, taking just three wickets.

He was left out from the previous Test, then recalled for the fourth Test to fill the void.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, then making 28 as a batsman as one of just three teammates who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back on Saturday morning and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Yet, at the end of his spell, he delivered a change of pace to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson returned to the side for the Melbourne match having missed of the third.
