The award-winning broadcaster and filmmaker, Sir Humphrey Burton, has died at 94 years old.
His passing occurred at his home, in the company of his family.

His career began in Wiltshire in 1931, culminating in a role as a pioneering broadcaster who brought classical music with the public.
He was the BBC’s head of music and arts during the 1960s and 1970s, receiving awards for productions such as The Golden Ring.
He also founded the Young Musician of the Year competition in 1978, a showcase that spotlighted soloists such as violinist Nicola Benedetti.
