Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
