Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community offered sympathy for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
